How to Make It in America CANCELLED!

In entertainment news, HBO axed How to Make It in America, along with Bored to Death and Hung. The NYC fashion-focused show had so much promise. Even though it may have been slow and depressing at parts, what with all their speed bumps and fuck ups, the show had character. With street wear and street art becoming extremely popular as of late it, was a poor choice for the legendary premium cable station HBO to make. Dedicated fans like myself hope that maybe the show will get picked up by another network. But hopes aren't high.

Rob Dyrdek At It Again

Rob Dyrdek from Rob & Big recently kickflipped - correctly named barrel roll by most - a Chevy Sonic. Before you watch the video it is kind of a play on words. Rob actually kickflips THE Chevy Sonic, like the actually car itself. In the slow motion portion of the video you can see the entire barrel roll in one shot with all his teenie bopper fans in the background. It is a miracle that he was able to keep the car upright when he landed, but leave it to Bobby Light to wow you. Seriously though, what will this guy think of next?

Common, "Sweet" Beef

Ever since the single "Sweet" dropped from The Dreamer/The Believer, it was apparent somebody done fucked up and made Common mad. But about what? Common was on Sway in The Morning and identified Drake as the target for the lyrical molestation that was taking place. Drake has yet to respond, but producer and long time friend Noah "40" Shebib has. Common has yet to divulge the motivation behind the Drake diss track is it clear this beef is just getting started cause Common killed it. Who knew all he needed was an ig'nant Drake to get him to go in.

Chris Webby - Skyline

This is one of the best tracks off of There Goes The Neighborhood, Chris Webby's first EP release courtesy of iTunes.  If you're somehow not familiar with him, then you need to stop and head over to DatPiff.com.  Download any of his six previous mixtapes and just bask in his lyrical genius.  Personal favorite line from this song: "Spit the toughest, who touchin' this, always chillin' with a bird Snuffaluffagus." The guy's wordplay is outlandish and unique; he can syllable rhyme with the best of them.  It's a shame he doesn't shine more because of guys like MGK and Mac Miller, but his time is coming.  #NinjaSwag

Banksy

Here at O.G. one thing you gotta respect, before we respect you is Banksy. The guy has been a legend in the street art world for many years and still to this day has some of the best work out there. His most recent piece is titled "Fallen". Here is his recently constructed website.

Mac Miller, Love Him or Hate him?

Recently Forbes sat down with the "big boy, with a big boy bank", Mac Miller, to interview him after listing him on their prestigious 30 under 30. Mac is widely known as the first indie rapper to have a chart-topping debut album, along with many other accomplishments. Even without the help of a major label, gasp.

Two things I admire about Mac is as he says, "[he] thinks outside of the box." His videos and songs don't exactly fit the mold of rap, but they also don't fit the mold of indie. Somehow he has been able to find a medium between the two and struck gold in the process. Another thing I admire is that he strives to always push himself harder and farther, than where he is now. Lets be real, the kid is hot (no homo) right now, he has 1 million+ Twitter followers and 200 million+ YouTube hits, yet he has the frame of mind to think he hasn't hit his full potential yet. As he said, "My whole thing is always, no matter where I get is to never be satisfied." That is just something I can respect to the fullest, cause it is easy to sit back and say I accomplished my goals. But it is harder to say, aight what can I do next to push the bar even higher. That is what a real O.G. does.

Method Man Recording Final Solo Album?

This is some really disappointing news.  Meth is apparently working on what will be his final solo album, slated to release some time next year.  A status update on Wu's Facebook page broke the news.

Although it's sad to hear Meth is (possibly) finishing up his solo career, hopefully he'll stick around for any future Wu or Blackout albums.  He's a favorite rapper of mine, but so is Jay-Z and he "retired" in 2003, and we all know how well that went.  More news to come as it develops.
